All-On-4 & All-On-6: Revolutionizing Full Arch Dental Implants
There are numerous options for patients seeking dental implants, but in the past, certain limitations have caused anxiety for individual patients. Those with thinning or insufficient jawbone mass were often told they did not have enough bone to support the implants they needed, or they had to undergo bone grafting procedures and a lengthy recovery time before considering implant surgery. This could turn the entire process into an ordeal that could take a year or longer. However, with the advent of All-On-4 and All-On-6 dental implants, these concerns are a thing of the past.
We are thrilled to offer these patients an innovative alternative. With All-On-4 and All-On-6 dental implants, we can now provide patients with full-mouth dental implants supported by four to six upper or lower jaw implants.

What Makes All-On-4 and All-On-6 Implants Different?
All-On-4 and All-On-6 implants are ideal for patients who need a full arch of prosthetic teeth but do not have enough bone mass to support individual implants for each tooth or who prefer to undergo less surgery.
Rather than undergoing bone grafting and numerous implants, we can often place four or six implants in the jawbone, strategically placing them to take advantage of the widest and strongest areas and avoid weaker areas. The replacement teeth are then attached, spreading the bite force equally over the implants.
Advantages of All-On-X Dental Implants
Whether you are considering All-On-4 or All-On-6 Implants, the advantages are the same:
- Fewer incisions and less chance of complications than other options
- Quicker healing and less discomfort
- Little or no need for bone grafting
- Fewer implants and less surgery mean less expense
- 96% success rate
- Permanent placement of replacement teeth
- Look, feel, and function like natural teeth
- A beautiful, permanent smile
All-On-4
Using this approach, two vertical implants are placed in the front of the jaw, while two at the back are angled into the jawbone. The angled implants provide greater stability and strength to support the replacement teeth without needing additional implants or sinus grafting.
All-On-6
With All-On-6, the front four implants are placed vertically, while the two implants furthest back may be placed at a slight angle (not as severe an angle as All-On-4). The additional implants provide greater stability and stimulation of the jawbone to prevent jawbone deterioration. However, it is more expensive due to the need for more surgery and more implants.
All-On-4 and All-On-6 FAQs
Why are some of the implants angled with All-On-4 or All-On-6 implants?
Angling the posterior implants helps them take greater advantage of the quality and quantity of jawbone at the back of the mouth, providing greater strength and stability for the attached replacement teeth without having to do bone grafts.
Is the implant process painful?
During dental implant surgery, you are sedated and will not feel any pain. Following surgery, you will experience some discomfort and swelling for 3-4 days, but this can be controlled with over-the-counter pain relievers and ice packs.
How long after surgery can the restorations be attached?
It can take anywhere from 3-6 months for the area to heal completely, but you can wear a temporary prosthetic during this time so that you are not without teeth.
Is All-On-4 or All-On-6 surgery dangerous?
As with any surgery, there is a small risk of infection, nerve damage, or complications, but this is rare. If you have any signs of complications, such as excessive bleeding or fever, after your surgery, contact our office immediately.
